Dear Sir Knights:
I am pleased to report that at least 12 members of the York Rite
Bodies of Orlando attended the Grand York Rite Convention. I enjoyed
perusing the tables of sale items and the soft cover books. The
legislation concerning changes in installation ritual of the Eminent
Grand Commander passed.
I continue to attend the degree practice sponsored by Past Eminent
Commander Gerald H. Favor on the third Thursday of the month. I regret
to inform the Sir Knights that I have been the only student at the last
two month's practices. I encourage all Sir Knights and officers of
Olivet Commandery No. 4 to attend. Particularly for those of us, like
myself, who have never been in the military, the sword work, the floor
work and ritual work present a unique opportunity for us to learn
things to which we non-military types have never been exposed: how and
when to salute, "column right", "on center dress", and my favorite
"Don't talk through your sword".
Sir Knight Harry Eisenberg has informed us that Commandery orders
scheduled for the first weekend in June will not go forward as planned
because we have the Chapter and Council degrees to confer, and three
weeks is not enough time to confer them.
I am enjoying my year as Eminent Commander and feeling more and
more confortable with the opening and closing of the Commandery. I
thank you Sir Knights for electing me to this position of honor and
giving me the opportunity to serve and learn as I become a life long
York Rite Mason.
