Buffalo Bill Cody

Chapter Small Banner

Every school child has heard the stories about William Frederick Cody as an American soldier, buffalo hunter, and colorful character of the Old West. He was well known as a trader, fur trapper, gold miner, rider for the Pony Express, and a frontiersman. (He gained his nickname "Buffalo Bill," primarily as a hunter). Bill Cody began show business in Chicago in 1872. He later gained international fame and was best known as the man who gave the "Wild West" its name. District Deputy Grand Commander's Message

Sir Knights and Companions:
I want to thank all who attended the District Meeting No. 5 at Ormond Beach Lodge.  We had a delicious meal and over 75 attendees not counting the ladies.  The Grand Commander’s goal is to increase our membership by 10 per cent.  He also would like each Commandery to conduct a Table Commandery by the end of the year.
The Most Excellent High Priest’s emphasis was on perpetual membership.
The Most Illustrious Grand Master talked about the Souvenir Program.
The Grand Commander asked Olivet Commandery No. 4 to open the Grand Commandery at the York Rite Convention on April 6, 2009.  He would also like to use our paraphernalia.

Sir Knight James D. Dickenson,
District Deputy Grand Commander

Commandery September Article

Commandery Small Banner
Sir Knights:
Not surprisingly, there was not much interest in having made and selling an Orlando York Rite belt buckle as a fund raiser for our York Right charities to honor Right Eminent George T. Collier.  Therefore, I have shelved the idea of any more belt buckles as gifts from me until next year.     We have not conferred the Council degrees because Eustis is dark for the summer. We hope to conclude the Council degrees this fall and then to confer the Commandery Orders at Eola Lodge.     Our District Deputy Grand Commander, James D. Dickenson and his committeemen for the Knight Templar Eye Foundation were received at the official visit to Olivet Commandery on July 24, 2008.  His visit was appreciated, and I hope that the District Deputy Grand Commander will make a return visit before the end of my year.  This past week I received a letter from the Right Eminent Grand Commander Charles Perez in which he stated that he plans to make his official visit to Olivet Commandery on September 25, 2008 and requesting that I notify him if this date is not convenient.
Sir Knights, please enter on your calendars and plan to attend and participate in the Table Lodge set for October 9, 2008 at Eola Lodge honoring our very own Right Excellent Companion George T. Collier.
