Sir Knights:
It is my pleasure to address the Craft, to let you know how proud I am and what a great honor it is for me to be part of the Knights Templars.   Our History and legend is most outstanding.   I don't understand everything involved with the beginning and the tradition involved for more than 2000 years, but it is fascinating and I really enjoy  this  very much.

At  our May meeting we had the visit of Sir Knight Harry Eisenberg, D.D.G.C.  All the Knights present were very happy to see our Companion and friend.

Sir Knights:

The last month and the months ahead are going to be very busy and active. The York Rite Convention is around the corner. The location will be once again in Lake Mary. The schedule will be released to everybldy by our Sir Knight John Fletcher Jr., Recorder.

Sir Knight James D. Dickenson, DDGC is very fond of our activities and I personally congratulate him for his dedication to the Craft. By the same token we do have a group of very enthusiastic dedicakted Knights.

I'm very proud to belong and be part of the York Rite Bodies. I hope I can do better, but I'll try to do my best to the length of my cable tow.

As your present Commander, I congratulate all of you for your good work and participation.

Many thanks for Sir Knight Harry V. Eisenberg DDGHP, Gerald Favor, Erik Andersen, Sam Tish, Alex Darwich, Thomas Rice and Wayne Parks for the excellent presentation of the Mark Master Degree in the month of February. Welcome to our new Sir Knights: Adam Alvarez, Manuel Lozada, Kenneth Ramey, Brian Lovell, William Newell and C. Principe.

Jacques DeMolay

THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR
  by Susie Hodges

"The Knights Templar was the most powerful military religious order of the Middle Ages, originally founded.....in 1118 A.D., to protect Christian pilgrims in the Holy Lands....

Over time, the Order became powerful and respected. Yet, in less than 200 years after it had formed, it fell spectacularly from grace." At the beginning of the 14th Century (1300's), the Templars were put on trial for blasphemy. A great deal of documentation and solid evidence were destroyed after their demise. The Templars’ primary duty was to kill for Christ to eliminate evil.

Jacques de Molay was the last and best known GM of the KT during the 200 years of existence (1118 - 1314). He was elected GM in 1293 when he was 49–and served as such for the rest of his life (until 1314). Jacques served as a Knights Templar from about the age of 20. The Knights Templar were originally known as "Knights of Christ." Most GM’s and most of the Templars were French. France and the French Kings often influenced the choice of GMs. Templars used both Cavalry, skilled in archery on horseback; and Infantry, skilled in the use of axes and spears.

Freemasonry - Ancient York Rite Grand Lodge

The symbolic degrees of Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Mason, as conferred in the United States, are degrees of the York Rite. York Masonry is the oldest and best known of all Masonic Rites. It takes its name from York, England, where the earliest known record of Masonry exists, dating from about A.D. 923. Masonry´s first written record is centered around York, the seat of the Ancient York Grand Lodge. In 1813, this Grand Lodge merged with another group called the Modern Grand Lodge, to form the United Grand Lodge of England. This is the basis upon which our present system of Symbolic Lodge Masonry is built.

You, as a Master Mason, have received the first three degrees of the York Rite. Having begun your Masonic work in the York Rite, it is natural that you should want to continue with it.  According to Masonic legend, every man raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason received “substitute secrets”, as the “true secrets” were lost. It may prove a surprise to the average man, believing his work is completed, to be told that the secrets pertaining to the ceremony will not be given to him! This is unfortunate, but the veil is lifted in the degree of the Royal Arch, and in that degree only. Hence, no man actually becomes a Master Mason until he is exalted to that holy order.

Basics For Joining Orlando York Rite

YORK RITE DEGREES & ORDERS

by Sam Tish, E.H.P.

Much of the information about York Rite Freemasonry seems to be quietly discussed. Details about our York Rite bodies tend to be the "big secret" in masonry. Masonic brothers in Blue Lodge know York Rite exists, but little basic information reaches those who might be interested.
Total cost for candidates to join the three bodies (CHAPTER, COUNCIL, and COMMANDERY) is: $180.
Annual dues are less than $65. Any one or all of the degrees/orders may be taken as a "fast class–usually 2 days" or slow class stretched out over 2 or more months.
Payments may be made in three increments: CHAPTER = $85; COUNCIL = $40; COMMANDERY = $55.

District Deputy Grand Commander's Message

Sir Knights and Companions:
I want to thank all who attended the District Meeting No. 5 at Ormond Beach Lodge.  We had a delicious meal and over 75 attendees not counting the ladies.  The Grand Commander’s goal is to increase our membership by 10 per cent.  He also would like each Commandery to conduct a Table Commandery by the end of the year.
The Most Excellent High Priest’s emphasis was on perpetual membership.
The Most Illustrious Grand Master talked about the Souvenir Program.
The Grand Commander asked Olivet Commandery No. 4 to open the Grand Commandery at the York Rite Convention on April 6, 2009.  He would also like to use our paraphernalia.

Sir Knight James D. Dickenson,
District Deputy Grand Commander
